Barron Trump’s New Chapter Begins

Barron Trump, the youngest son of former President Donald Trump, has been elected as a Florida delegate to attend this year’s Republican National Convention, marking the 18-year-old’s debut on the political stage. Barron will be one of the 41 GOP delegates representing Florida at the July convention, where his father is expected to be officially nominated as the presidential candidate to run against President Biden in November. Evan Power, Chairman of the Republican Party of Florida, confirmed this development to the Associated Press.

The Trump Family’s Political Involvement

Having just turned 18 earlier this year, Barron, along with his older siblings – Donald Trump Jr., Eric, and Tiffany – has also been selected as a delegate. NBC News first reported Barron’s selection as a delegate on Wednesday. Further comments are awaited from the Florida GOP, as reached out by The Hill.

In a statement emailed to AP, Power expressed, “We are fortunate to have a great group comprising grassroots leaders, elected officials, and members of the Trump family working together as part of the Florida delegation attending the 2024 Republican National Convention.” Barron Trump, who was only 10 years old when his father was elected to the White House in 2016, has largely stayed out of the public eye during the former president’s tenure. His name came to public attention last month when a New York judge overseeing a criminal trial related to the former president’s hush money case had to consider whether Trump could skip the trial to attend Barron’s graduation on May 17.

Judge Juan Mercan ultimately granted Trump special permission to miss the trial for the graduation ceremony. The Republican National Convention is set to take place from July 15 to 18 in Milwaukee. Trump, who became a Florida resident in 2019, has won the Sunshine State in both the 2016 and 2020 presidential elections.
