According to doctors and local officials, rescue operations are still ongoing, with the Hamas media office stating that at least 73 people were killed in the attack. The Israeli military responded by saying they are investigating the incident but claimed the casualty numbers released by the Hamas media office were exaggerated. They stressed that the strike was aimed at a Hamas target and that their data does not align with the reported figures.

Palestinian health officials noted that rescue efforts are being hampered by a second consecutive day of telecommunication and internet outages. Earlier reports from the Gaza health ministry confirmed that Israeli military strikes had killed 35 Palestinians across the enclave.

“This is a war of genocide and ethnic cleansing. The occupation has conducted a horrifying massacre in Beit Lahiya,” the Hamas media office declared.

Meanwhile, in Jabalia, the largest of Gaza‘s eight refugee camps, residents and medics reported that Israeli forces tightened their siege, issuing evacuation orders to nearby towns like Beit Hanoun and Beit Lahiya. Tanks were sent in to encircle the area, as Israeli officials argued that these evacuation orders aim to separate Hamas fighters from civilians. They denied any organized effort to clear civilians from Jabalia or surrounding regions.

Footage circulating on social media—yet to be verified by Reuters—appears to show Palestinian men being detained near Israeli tanks. The situation in northern Gaza remains dire as the humanitarian crisis deepens amidst ongoing airstrikes and escalating ground operations.
