Israeli Airstrikes in Lebanon

Tayr Debba, Lebanon – In a dramatic escalation of hostilities, Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon have resulted in the deaths of four individuals, with many others reportedly wounded. This latest round of attacks, which specifically targeted the town of Tayr Debba in southern Lebanon, highlights the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah. The Lebanese state-run National News Agency (NNA) reported these fatalities early on Sunday morning, underscoring the mounting toll of the airstrikes.

Widespread Attacks on Hezbollah Positions

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that it has been carrying out extensive airstrikes targeting Hezbollah positions across Lebanon. In a statement released on Sunday morning, the IDF reported striking “launchers that were aimed toward Israeli territory, structures in which weapons were stored, and additional Hezbollah terrorist infrastructure.” The statement further added that “hundreds of Hezbollah terror targets throughout Lebanon” have been hit over the past day, as the IDF continues its efforts to “degrade and dismantle Hezbollah’s capabilities.”

The military operations have focused on various areas, including Marjayoun, Deir Aames, and Jouaiyya in southern Lebanon, as well as towns in the eastern Baalbek-Hermel and Bekaa regions, where Hezbollah maintains a strong presence. Video footage shared by the IDF shows intense bombardments in these areas, with smoke and explosions lighting up the sky.

Civilian Casualties and Escalating Tensions

Lebanese state media reported that Israeli warplanes targeted a civil defense center in southern Lebanon, further exacerbating concerns about civilian casualties. In the city of Hermel and its surroundings, the Baalbek region has also been hit by a series of airstrikes, causing panic among residents and further straining local emergency services.

Meanwhile, in Beirut, live footage from Reuters showed smoke rising above the skyline on Sunday morning, highlighting the impact of repeated Israeli airstrikes on the Lebanese capital in recent days. One of these strikes reportedly killed Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, marking a significant escalation in the conflict.

Humanitarian Crisis Deepens

The Lebanese health minister, Dr. Firass Abiad, confirmed that more than 1,000 people in Lebanon have been killed since Israeli attacks escalated last week. Hospitals in southern Lebanon are overwhelmed with the influx of casualties, while humanitarian agencies warn of a rapidly deteriorating situation for civilians caught in the crossfire.

With no immediate signs of de-escalation, the Lebanese population remains on edge as Israeli airstrikes continue to pound Hezbollah strongholds and critical infrastructure across the country.
